Visit the Topkapi Palace, once the palace of the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire, Topkapi is a vast treasury of Islamic culture, science and weaponry, visited by over 2 million people every year. It is one of the highlights of Turkey.
Visit the Underground Cistern (Basilica Cistern),waterway was used as a reservoir for water storage for the Great Palace and other buildings. It is 132 m length, by 65m wide. There are 336 columns in the cistern. Most of the column capitals are either in Corinthian or Doric Style. It’s impressive.
After leaving the Basilica Cistern you will finally have the opportunity to do some haggling at the Grand Bazaar, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is like any bazaar except that, as its explains, it is all within one huge building. Depending on how you measure it, the covered market here could be the largest shopping center in the world, numbering over 4,000 individual shops, you will find among masses of modern trash an approximation of youthful dreams of the glamorous oriental market.

I love the grand bazaar but there are a few things you need to know before going in. Know where the gates are because they can be hard to find, know you need to bargain for everything (haggling is part of the fun), it can be overwhelming since the Grand Bazaar sees on average 300,000 people a day.
We Highly recommend Taylan and his private tour company to everyone who want to discover Istanbul with a friend.
We loved visiting the Basilica Cistern and were surprised to see fish in the water. The structure is very interesting from an engineering perspective. I was particularly interested having just finished the Dan Brown book INFERNO. The Medusa sculptured columns were great.
我们全家到了伊斯坦堡,因为时间有限,决定参加私人的一日游。我们的中文导游大海先生的介绍,生动又风趣,让我们一家人沉浸才伊斯坦堡的华丽丰富的历史中。
Don’t miss it. The Harem and the Treasury were great. The included tour of the Harem was well worth the price.
We have been in Basilica Cistern last June and had a wonderful time with photographing this place. This is a good opportunity to sharpen your slow shutter speed photography skills. Things to remember
• Have a tripod
• Have a remote trigger if you have one
• Otherwise use 10 seconds or 2 seconds delayed trigger
The grand bazaar is big beyond belief. There are so many shops and corridors, you lose your bearings in this maze. At the same time you think how much stuff there is in the bazaar. As it is under a roof and there are so many people, there might be a shortage of air.
Topkapi Palace is very large palace, lots of walking, and looking– tons of artifacts too. Recommend going in the morning first thing, as it can get crowded. We were told the tour groups usually arrive around 11 or so… Would also recommend giving at least half a day. Also make sure you pay for the extra ticket to the Harem.
Istanbul Sin duda es la ciudad mas bella del mundo y bien hay recorrwrla lo mas posible
The cistern is underground “Basilica Cistern” very cool and refreshing to get out of the humid air. The history is fascinating, don’t miss the Medusa heads and the reason they are upside down.
