It’s always fascinating to get “under the skin” of a city — especially one with a storied history like Istanbul. Wear comfortable shoes as this is a full-day walking tour, and be prepared for a great experience.
There is quite a few gems in the archaeology museum, including a portion of the chain that the Byzantines would place across the Golden Horn to protect Constantinople from attach. The displays are not so great (with a few exceptions), but it a way it makes the museum more interesting.
Hagia Sophia is a must see in Istanbul and there is no way that you will miss this attraction if you are in the city. There are prayers held at periodic interval and during this period , the entrance is stopped. In case, you want to visit the place from inside, then plan your timing properly..
Top 10 historic attraction in the world to see.. Hagia Sophia is fantastic area close to the blue mosque and the Basilica cistern. Hagia Sophia is fascinating beautiful inside, once christian then moslem now a museum. You just cant visit Istanbul without visiting Hagia Sophia.
I love the grand bazaar but there are a few things you need to know before going in. Know where the gates are because they can be hard to find, know you need to bargain for everything (haggling is part of the fun), it can be overwhelming since the Grand Bazaar sees on average 300,000 people a day.
Hagia Sophia is what an incredible building. We were lucky enough to have a guide with us who was able to tell us about its history and the changes it has gone through in the journey from church to mosque. The renovation work is still uncovering christian works of art hidden in the muslim era.
The Hagia Sophia is impressive and I loved the architecture. However, close to 1/4 of the main hall is under construction. While the natural light which shone through the main hall was amazing…
Hagia Sophia an incredibly impressive architectural wonder. It feels like it will topple over at any minute, making it even more fun! I highly recommend bringing a detailed written guide with you and studying the guide before you go.
I have been to the Hagia Sophia a couple of other times this year but was very disappointed this time! Half of the main floor is being renovated and there is no obvious notice of the work when you pay the admission. In addition, the price of admission is the same as it was when there was no renovations!
