Like all of the major museums we visited in Turkey, this was a model of how valuable artifacts should be displayed and annotated: crisp and interesting descriptions in English as well as Turkish supported by lucid explanatory maps and diagrams. The collection itself, as well as the three major buildings that house them, are of the highest order.
Hagia Sophia was one of the most incredible sights I've ever seen. It is a must-see if you visit and a reason in and of itself to visit Istanbul.
We have just enjoyed several hours inside this magnificent Museum, opportunities to many photographs, very informative and would highly recommend.
We were able to fit in a short layover to get a taste of Istanbul with our family. Yesim was able to give us great insight into the history and archetecture of Istanbul and show us sights that we would not ever have found on our own. Great driver and great guide made our short visit a worthwhile one.
We had only a day in Istanbul, so for a quick “highlights” we thought it would be a good idea to have a guide rather than struggle with maps and guidebooks. Thank you so much for making our tour such a wonderful experience!
We went to the museum specifically to see the Treaty of Kadesh, oldest known peace treaty in the world. But there's so much more at this museum, with exhibits of items from 6,000 or more years ago. Man has been a long time on this land, indeed.
When you been in hagia Sophia museum, you can feel and smell the atmosphere of byzantium, I mean medieval age. A very important place of christianity. But when you get there you may face with a long queue to enter there.
Hagia Sophia is a must see – it's worth a trip in it's own right. From the outside it looks kind of scruffy, but then the Byzantine empire was never that bothered about exterior. But you can see how the building works from the outside. The interior drips with marble, The side aisles are huge.
Coming from Rome to Istanbul, I was partly expecting the Archaeological Museum to be as impressive as what I could find in Rome. While not quite as expansive, if you are interested in ancient history & archaeology, it is certainly worth the trip.
Uyyy que maravillosa ciudad istanbul sin duda el tour privado es como anillo al dedo
