This was well worth visiting. The third floor of the main building was closed when I was there. Go to the Ancient Orient museum and do the ground floor of the main museum especially the sarcofagi from Lebanon.
Hagia Sophia is one of the ‘must see’ in Istanbul. Exterior doesn’t look so attractive compared to interiors. Go to upper floor and while doing so see horses used to go there in Byzantine empire. The huge area is capped by a dome of epic proportions and it’s treasured by 2 religions.
Better than we thought it would be. Lots of well described history and artifacts. The sarcophagus section is very interesting.
Hagia Sophia a stunning beauty, an architectural marvel of the world.
Fantastic museum, absolutely packed with archeological treasures. Allow plenty of time. The Alexander sarcophagus is breathtakingly beautiful. Wonderful, among many other wonders. Great for lovers of ancient history.
This museum has a lot of artifacts from the area around Istanbul, and from neighbouring regions of Turkey. However, it is definitely a museum of the archeology of Istanbul, not of Turkey as a whole. It is not a general world-level archeology museum, so don't expect anything from the rest of the world.
伊斯坦堡一日游中,我个人最喜欢的是搭渡轮一游博斯普鲁斯海峡。看到黑海和博斯普鲁斯海的汇合处,实在太壮观了。!
Hagia Sophia is stunning and awesome. A must see for any visit to Istanbul. Chock full of history from Byzantine to Ottoman. I would imagine at its historical peak the interior and the domes were covered with mosaics as sumptuous as those in the Chora church (also a must visit!!), but most have been destroyed over time or covered up.
Every holiday in Istanbul has to include the Grand Bazaar. You could spend hours here. I was surprised that we were not hassled as much as expected… not sure why .. but very pleased. Purchased the appropriate shirts and hats and …. all good … Not to be missed
We arranged a tour of Istanbul and Ephesus and both were top notch. Good drivers and guides, prompt service. Our guide arranged a traditional lunch for our group close to Ephesus and it was excellent, reasonable price and nice cold beer on a hot day! We were picked up at the port on time and dropped off with time to spare. I can highly recommend and feel free to contact me for more details if you like.
