I will start my review from underlining that Hagia Sophia is not very impressive from outside but when you go inside you understand that it's reason nr. 1 why you should stop in Istanbul. It's very symbolic place which witnessed 2 Empires and has elements of both Christian and Muslim religions.
We loved the Hagia Sophia. It was great to see on the inside and outside. We took lots of photos.
Very rich archeological museum, rich collection of sarcophagus. There is also very modern exhbition from port underwater excavation that is impressive.
There is quite a few gems in the archaeology museum, including a portion of the chain that the Byzantines would place across the Golden Horn to protect Constantinople from attach. The displays are not so great (with a few exceptions), but it a way it makes the museum more interesting.
A trip to Istanbul without seeing Hagia Sophia would be a big mistake. This place is breathtakingly beautiful. Its shear size is difficult to fathom until you are right in the centre of it. Its intricate detail in every column, the mosaic work, and its marble work (which looks like a gigantic quilt with varying patterns) makes it one the most impressive places of worship I’ve visited.
It was a great experience to visit Istanbul. You can get great panoromic city photographs from golden horn.I recommend to drink and taste traditional Turkish foods in this wonderful city. Topkapi palace, bosphorus, blue mosque, grand bazaar, taksim was amazing. Our guide was also very friendly and she gave us historical information about the amazing city.
La antigua iglesia de santa sofia aun sigue eb pie pero como mezquita pero aun dentro eata intacta…
Hagia Sophia, built in the 6th century AD by Justinian, is a true marvel. Justinian was a Roman Emperor (Eastern), and commissioned a church to be built. What a church! It is the largest free supporting dome known, and has survived many earthquakes. The inside is quite beautiful, and some of the Byzantine mosaics are truly stunning.
I was truly amazed by this museum, with the territory and number of ancient valuable exhibits you can find here. My daughter of 12 was very much enthusiastic and impressed and we've spent around two+ hours here – the museum is not one building and you can really find a lot here!
Cojimos un tour privado en istanbul y vimos muchisimo pero la verdad creo que twngo que repetirlo
