Visit the Dolmabahce Palace, is one of the most imposing and beautiful pieces of architecture along the Bosphorus, built 1843. Dolmabahce Palace, the monumental example of the Ottoman capital city, influenced by the widespread aesthetical approaches of the dominant European architecture at that time, comprises many characteristics of the Ottoman palace architecture tradition. It is one of the highlights of Turkey.
After leaving the Dolmabahce Palace you will have the opportunity to do some haggling at the Grand Bazaar, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is like any bazaar except that, as its explains, it is all within one huge building. Depending on how you measure it, the covered market here could be the largest shopping center in the world, numbering over 4,000 individual shops, you will find among masses of modern trash an approximation of youthful dreams of the glamorous oriental market.

Dolmabahce Palace Istanbul very beautiful is often overlooked since reservations are required to visit it. It rivals palaces throughout Europe in grandeur and splendor. The beautifully preserved furnishings, carpets and chandeliers provide an important insight into how the Sultans lived. The palace is huge and only a moderate portion is available for viewing.
If you want to be shepherded around an at times rundown country pile and at other times over-the-top palace of excess, with no time to appreciate the good bits and a guide that can barely be heard, the Dolmabahce Palace is for you.
A tour of the Dolmabahce Palace is no fun in Oct. The gardens are beautiful though, but the experience is one of bad tempered security people and a dry, dry tour. In my humble opinion the Dolmabahce is not a world class jewel but the grumpy security guys insist on medical-type plastics over shoes.
Istanbul es lo mas hermoso es una ciudad mistica y fabulosa
Dolmabahce Palace itself is impressive. A lot of artfacts, carpets and interesting facts about the life of the Sultan and its harem. Also, this place used to be very important in the modern history of Istanbul, since the famous Ataturk had his office and residence there, too.
Dolmabahce Palace, Istanbul absolutely must see. A bit to the expensive side but worth it. Very close to the Kabatas tram stop. Have a chay afterwards at the cafe in the garden. Beautiful view of the Bosporus.
We were travelling on a cruise ship with 3 couples and booked a private tour our tour guide seemed to get us to each place before the big crowds arrived thanks.

Skip your guidebook and contact this guide for a fabulous travel experience in Istanbul. We were in Istanbul as a stop on a cruise so were there for just a day. Taylan was our tour guide and she was excellent. Not only was he a great guide, but he was also really pleasant and engaging. I would highly recommend this company, and Taylan specifically.
