Thank you to Gokhan for sharing Istanbul with us with wonderful narratives, humor, and heart. He made our first experience in Istanbul a lasting impression. We haven’t stopped talking about our new friend Gokhan and have taken away with us a broader view of Turkey, the beautiful people, and life there in the past and the present. If you do one thing while in Istanbul, don’t hesitate to take a tour with this man….he will make your visit feel alive. Thank you for treating us Californian’s with such kinship and ease….it was a spectacular experience that we will recommend to all our friends.
We had planned a cruise onboard the Royal Princess with a one day stop at our most anticipated port…Istanbul. We barely scratched the surface of this vibrant and historic city……but Taylan certainly gave us our best chance! He was organized from start to finish, anticipating our needs, modifying the itinerary for our requests ( the man jumped out of our private van to secure possibly the best baklava ever) so we could enjoy on our trip back to the ship. Taylan is organized, knowledgeable, easy going and charming. Our family thoroughly enjoyed Istanbul thanks to Taylan.
Nothing much remains of the hippodrome itself – except for the sphendone if you wander down to the south. (This looks like the outside of an amphitheatre in dire need of repair) but use your imagination and think of chariots racing up one side of the hippodrome and down the other.
When you been in hagia Sophia museum, you can feel and smell the atmosphere of byzantium, I mean medieval age. A very important place of christianity. But when you get there you may face with a long queue to enter there.
You may think it's too crowded and it's such a long walk to go through the whole BAZAAR! true but it is a must visit attraction in Istanbul, very interesting, you see locals all around selling all kinds of clothing, souvenirs, fake brands, a huge selection of everything…
La verdad estaba muy nerviosa por lo del tour pero contratamos el tour privado y vimos casi todo istanbul fue todo muy emotivo
Hagia Sophia ! Incredible ! This was the longest line we were subjected to while in Istanbul, but it was definitely worth it. I had done plenty of research beforehand, which turned out to be good because there is little to no information once inside. My recommendation: do your research on the history beforehand and just enjoy the stunning architecture.
This was one of my favorite mosque visits while in Istanbul. It was huge and beautiful, with so many little details throughout. I ended up spending about an hour and a half going through. I would also recommend going up to the second floor, there is more to see there and some great views of the whole mosque.
