Topkapi Palace was well worth the visit for us, some real culture and amazing Architecture here. It is surrounded in a beautiful garden with some amazing views. The palace itself you get to see various jewels, weapons etc. An overview of the palace itself.

if you visit istanbul ,you must visit blue mosque.and you can see the how islamic arts are ,such a mystiqe and spiritual place
Topkapi Palace is great place, especially the Harem. lot of things to see and very beautiful buildings and rooms, especially the Harem!
Everyone visiting Istanbul needs to visit the Grand Bazaar. How long you actually stay there depends on whether you can stand the crowded indoor alleyways, and the very pushy shop owners It is almost, no, actually completely impossible, to browse in any of the shops.
Coming from Rome to Istanbul, I was partly expecting the Archaeological Museum to be as impressive as what I could find in Rome. While not quite as expansive, if you are interested in ancient history & archaeology, it is certainly worth the trip.
You have to visit Topkapi Palace, it is just wonderful and so different from European style palaces! We spent 6 hours inside and it was still more to spend if you wanted. Lovely!
Topkapi Palace contains breathtaking pavilions covered with beautiful ceramic tiles, elaborate delicate plasterwork, and gold; and on the inside are beautifully decorated. There is somethingforeveryoneherewith collections of jewels, costumes and arms/armour,and a restaurantthat, while expensive, has unrivalled views over the Bosphorus and tasty food.
Topkapi Palace is very large palace, lots of walking, and looking– tons of artifacts too. Recommend going in the morning first thing, as it can get crowded. We were told the tour groups usually arrive around 11 or so… Would also recommend giving at least half a day. Also make sure you pay for the extra ticket to the Harem.
Thank you to Taylan, who arranged a great tour of Topkapi Palace for two! Knowledgable, friendly, charming and not afraid to leave regular talking points behind and engage in great conversation while seeing the sites. Highly recommended!
