Grand bazar is near Sultanahmet historical district , could be reached on foot in 15 minutes, a map from your hotel can be life saver. Grand Bazar consist of over 4000 stores(as noted), the area is jrpt very clean and public restrooms are providedin several location for one turkish lira, ( make sure to have one lira change ).
I love the grand bazaar but there are a few things you need to know before going in. Know where the gates are because they can be hard to find, know you need to bargain for everything (haggling is part of the fun), it can be overwhelming since the Grand Bazaar sees on average 300,000 people a day.
This is one of the main reasons for the unique character of Istanbul from the enormous cargo ships making their way into and out of the Black Sea to the busy ferries plying their way across it. I could just sit all afternoon with this view in front!
We had a lovely tour of Istanbul with our tour guide and the tour is so much better and less expensive than any group tour the cruise ships offer.

You cannot visit Hagia Sophia just once….We visited this Historic and Holy Place while on a privatetour from a Cruise Ship…To be in a massive structure built aprox in the 7th century in Constantinople is overwhelming in a good way…..We will be back and do our own tour of this and the other sites in Ancient Constantinople ( Istanbul)…
I visited the bridge both at daytime and nighttime . I recommend you see this bridge in day on boat touring on the BOSPHOROUS and hop on to a bus that starts from sultanahmet it takes you across the bridge and returns back at night so you have the nice view of it lit up these buses are near hypodromme…
