The grand bazaar is big beyond belief. There are so many shops and corridors, you lose your bearings in this maze. At the same time you think how much stuff there is in the bazaar. As it is under a roof and there are so many people, there might be a shortage of air.
There are two obelisks and the broken Serpent Column in the Hippodrome. The obelisk of Thutmosis III is impressive an appears unweathered after thousands of years.
As we were visiting Istanbul in late Autumn, there were no huge crowds, and we had essentially no wait to enter any of the museums. However, not even a great tour guide could overcome the Istanbul traffic, and it took us almost an hour to return from the Grand Bazaar to the cruise port as we were caught in the rush hour (due to late ship arrival) of locals trying to get over the Bosphorus bridge to the Asian side. We did, however, make our ship.
Overall, could not have been more satisfied. Price was quite fair given that it was a private tour. Definite 5 – Stars.
Tour required mild walking and some stairs, definitely not wheelchair accessible.

The Hippodrome was first built in AD 203 by the Roman Emperor Septimus Severus when the city was called Byzantium. The arena was used for chariot races and other entertainments. Throughout the Byzantine period, the Hippodrome was the centre of the city's social life. Huge amounts were bet on chariot races.
Every time when I visit Istanbul I go to Sultan Ahmet Mosque to feel an environment of the Muslim mosque. It's a really good organizing of suche a huge number of tourists visit the mosque
We had a fantastic day.. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great tour of this great city!
In Istanbul, we were picked up right at the cruise ship at the appointed time and boarded a large van for just the four of us. You can book the tour on-line ahead of time, and you can pick and choose the sights you want to see. Overall, more reasonable than the ship tours, and a lot more flexibility, this tour company is great.
Hippodromeis an area that you need a guide to point out the historical sites and tell you what you are looking at. There are 2 obelisks and the remnants of the serpent tower. You can do this in 15 minutes.
El tour privado de istanbul esun sueño hermoso
Pity they are busy with renovations ….. guess I will have to revisit (and that is not a bad thing!!) We took a slow walk, talked to the cats that were lying idly around, took a couple of pictures and then went for a coffee under the trees.
