When you been in hagia Sophia museum, you can feel and smell the atmosphere of byzantium, I mean medieval age. A very important place of christianity. But when you get there you may face with a long queue to enter there.
I highly recommend that if you are going to travel to Istanbul that you contact Taylan from privatetour.net to make arrangements.
The Hippodrome is the ancient Byzantine/ Roman racetrack that existed in ancient Constantinople. Now it is just a plaza with a few remaining monuments next to the Blue Mosque and the Islamic Art Museum. Although it is not that spectacular in it's current state, it is worth a visit to imagine what it was like once.
Wonderful! Congratulations! But to refer to a monument maybe the title should talk by itself about its heritage. Hagia Sophia (meaning in Greek “God’s Wisdom”) was built as a Christian Orthodox Cathedral and was transferred to a mosque centuries later. It is oxymoron (contradictory) to have a Greek-Byzantine name to Mosque. Correct Historic and Academic name: “Hagia Sophia Orthodox patriarchal basilica.” Congratulations again for the site!
A must visit Hagia Sophia church built 1500 hundred years ago. Hard to think how they could pull it off at 500 ac
A visit to the old Hippodrome now known I believe as Sultan Ahmet Square, is I believe a must for lovers of ancient history. situated between the aya sofia and the Blue Mosque who's entrance can be found off of it.
Cojimos un tour privado en istanbul y vimos muchisimo pero la verdad creo que twngo que repetirlo
Travelling along the Bosphorus Strait will certainly give you a view of Istanbul that is not accessible from land.
A trip to Istanbul without seeing Hagia Sophia would be a big mistake. This place is breathtakingly beautiful. Its shear size is difficult to fathom until you are right in the centre of it. Its intricate detail in every column, the mosaic work, and its marble work (which looks like a gigantic quilt with varying patterns) makes it one the most impressive places of worship I’ve visited.
Fantastic value for money.. Great weather, good pictures to be had and excellent service in the bar..
