This was one of my favorite places to visit in Turkey. I have to admit with other reviewers that this place is special. It has a sense of peace and tranquility unlike any other place. Yes, there are lots of tourists but everything is orderly.
We had a Mercedes van and were very comfortable. I highly recommend this tour…
First we were very surprised with lot of people coming of everywhere. FORGET it. You are in sacred soil. Think that two thousands years ago, Virgin Mary lived there. It doesn´t matter if was 5 or 50 meters far or not. It was in that place. Just take a seat in front of there and stay few moments.
me parece que es un lugar muy lindo me gusto mucho el castillo que estaba 0en frente del puerto efeso es una de las siete maravillas del mundo antiguo algun dia volvere a ir
I grew up in a Catholic school, and we used to pray the rosary on the month of September, but now I am Agnostic, i have different faith now base on my life experience, but because weve learned about the Blessed Virgin Mary in highschool, its nice to see her history.
For me, visiting Virgin Marys House was more from a 'nostalgic Historical perspective' with a question posed .. What would have been like for Mary to be living her later days in this region with sweeping valley views. Knowing in that era it was the time of 'great persecution' of the Christian having the vibrant Roman city of Ephesus.
I was unprepared for the experience of entering into the small house-now-church. No matter what religion, every one of us 20 who entered became silent. No signs asking for silence. No person asking for silence. Silence just fell over each one of us. Goose bumps were out in full force. I found myself touching the bricks !
This place was far from our hotel but we enjoy it a lot, we have so many photos here and the road to his place is so nice you can see a big statue of virgin mary that you can take so nice photos there try it..
I sent emails asking for prices and options to create a private tour for our shore excursion. I was able to take a standard tour and customize it and it was less than half the price of the group tour shore excursion offered by our cruise. We met our private guide and driver as soon as we got off the ship. We first started with a drive out to the Virgin Mary’s House. Along the drive, we learned some interesting facts about the region and Turkey in general. Then, we reached Mary’s house and toured the site very interesting. Then it was off to Ephesus where we had a leisurely and informative tour through the amazing ruins. Make sure to get the added tour of the terrace houses. This is the most well preserved ancient ruins ever discovered.
Then it was off to St John’s Basilica and the Temple of Artimis to finish the tour. The tour was incredible and a highlight of our trip. I would highly recommend this private tour the price was very reasonable.
