It was a great day with so much to see in such a beautiful city
Basically a small church that they say sets over Mary's house – enjoyed the country side but would not go back. of a shrine to collect money.
I highly recommend bundling this with ancient Ephesus in a guided tour. Mary's house is about 20 min away by bus from ancient Ephesus so don't think its walking distance. Take in the history and feel the peacefulness of the site.
We had a terrific day our tour was flawlessly performed from start to finish.
The places we visted were Mary’s House, Esphesus ruins, a pottery shop and a leather goods shop. We also stopped for lunch at a beautiful outdoor cafe. The food and the hospitality was great.
These are the most spectacular ruins that we saw when visiting Turkey. If you visit the country and have limited time, these are the ruins that you should visit. There is a lot to see at these ruins and you should allow several hours. We thought that the entrance was awesome, however there were much better sights as we walked through the place.
I loved the concept of being in the home of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God… but, there really isn't much to see there. It's one of those must do things to check off your list. (fyi – I'm a faithful Catholic, and I mean to disrespect… I'm just being honest)
This place was crowded when I was there. I was expecting a much larger place. If you are a devout Christian, this place is a must to visit. You feel peaceful here.
