We chose a private guided tour rather than a ship excursion and “I Would Definitely Recommend”
Very organized tour. The tour guide was great. Ephesus was beautiful. I would recommend this private tour to everyone.
We had a half day tour of the ruins of Ephesus. We had a great time. Thanks
The energy in this place is beautiful beyond description and I felt very moved by it. However I noticed that the majority of visitors were decidedly unmoved so I can only conclude that your experience of this place will very much depend on your own spirituality and connection to a higher power. It is very much an individual experience.
Instead of taking the ships tour we booked a private tour and it was a great day.
Interesting place, but as with most of these types of 'shrines' and the volumes of visitors, you are left with the feeling of being sheep, herded through and milked as quickly as possible. We went as part of a tour to Ephesus, so don't know individual cost of entry here, and we were only allowed 30 minutes in total.
Bring an empty bottle so you can take some holy water with you. Also bring paper and pen to write a note.
My husband and I had arranged the tour in advance of our arrival by cruise ship. We made the arrangements via e-mail and all of our questions were responded to quickly and professionally.
We generally book tours through the cruise line but are so glad we make the choice to do this private tour. The transportation was top of the line and our guide and driver were outstanding. We thought it was an excellent value as well.
Located on the top of the "Bulbul" mountain 9 km ahead of Ephesus, the shrine of Virgin Mary enjoys a marvelous setting surrounded by greenery. She was brought to Ephesus by the Apostle John after the Resurrection of Christ and lived out her days there.
The modern history of the Virgin Mary's House is unusual.
