Belisirma is undoubtedly the best place along the valley to stop for a bite to eat as there are four restaurants right on the river’s edge near the bridge leading to the village, which is located about halfway between Ihlara and Selime. There are also some interesting churches here in Belisirma, including Direkli Kilise and the church of St. George, both of which are just off the path near the river.
Everything about the cave dwellings in all of the places in Cappadoccia make the trip worthwhile. Amazing history and great tour guides in the area.
It's another valley for hiking, if you have enough time .. We visited with our hotel tour guide, yet we didn't have much time for the hick .. We just took nice photos from the top of the valley, & our tour guide drove us to the bottom ..
When a I was a child I read an article about Cappadocia on National Geographic, and since then I have always wanted to visit the place. Cappadocia is an amazing place, the views and dwellings are unbelievable! You will even visit churches with frescoes!
There is also an underground city that housed about four thousand people in the past!
Derinkuyu was a life time experience to understand a bit about the History and the culture of the people who and how they lived. People interested in History should visit once in a life time, if possible.
First of all, bring a flashlight as it will allow you to explore some of the hidden nooks and crannies of the derinkuyu underground city (we were able to go several rooms further in but in complete darkness). This was one of the highlights of our trip. It's hard to imagine that the underground city was carved deep into the rock.
I love the outdoor historical tour. Getting a chance to enter and visit the caves were a treat.
