I especially liked Derinkuyu because the underground chambers went far underground and it was really interesting to hear about how people lived in these caves, with their livestock, during sieges. Some of the carved-out cathedrals are fairly intricate. I would highly recommend visiting Cappadocia.
Be aware that you will be in small spaces and if you are at all claustrophobic, you might want to pass.
This was the worst meal i've had after a week of traveling around turkey, which includes many meals of street food. It is unfortunately the restaurant tour companies choose to use as their inclusive lunch.
Talk about different- exploring this cave city feels like going through a Disneyland attraction. It's hard to believe people (and animals, including horses) lived here. Best part is the many giant round 'doors' used to block off enemies– it looks straight out of Indiana Jones.
Me gusto todo el tour privado y capadocia son lo mejor de turquia
This small church with two columns was carved on a rock block like Elmali-Church. Its frescoes depict St. Theodore, St. George with the dragons, and the flight to Egypt. The decorations in symbolic red are from the iconoclastic period.
Es lo mejor que hemos hecho deade que comenzamos a tomarnos vacaciones y el destino de eata vez fue turquia capadocia cojimos un tour privado y la verdad quedamos muy encantadoa con todo
Great place!! a must see. Derinkuyu underground city where people hid for days at a time. Many stories under the ground. The water cistern, ventilation shaft, praying chamber, kitchen, torture chamber, animal shed, stone doors-all well planned and laid out systematically. Not recommended for the claustrophobic or very obese.
This was somewhat interesting, a entire city built underground however after seeing all the beauty in this region and staying in a cave hotel, visiting Derinkuyu Underground City did not feel as special. I would not recommend Derinkuyu Underground City to families with small children, the elderly, anyone with difficulty walking stairs or anyone with an upper respiratory illness/asthma.
We were on an organized tour and hence rushed along somewhat but all the same we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We walked approximately 8km from Ihlara to Belisirma. You basically just follow the river between the two rock faces, occasionally stopping to admire the many churches carved into the rock and the somewhat older looking frescoes that remain.
