The Turkish name of Thyatira is Akhisar (white castle) which is a modern city known for its textile and dyeing trades. Thyateira was home to a significant Christian church, mentioned as one of the Seven Churches in the Book of Revelation. It was also criticized because of its tolerance of an immoral woman, Jezebel, who called herself a prophetess (Rev. 2:18-29).
- The next stop is Sardis, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lydia, located on the banks of the Pactolus River in Manisa province. The Church of Sardis appeared to be alive but was spiritually lifeless. G.R. Beasley-Murray says: “The appearance of the Sardis church is that of a beautifully adorned corpse in a funeral parlour, and the Lord is not deceived” (Revelation, p. 95). The church needed to stir up the living Spirit of God in order to come to life.
- The last visit of the day is Philadelphia , the city perhaps best known as the site of one of the seven churches of Asia, “The church of brotherly love that endures patiently” in the Book of Revelation (Rev. 3:7-13).
My family and I were on a private tour for about two weeks. We were taken to the most historical places in Turkey from Virgin mary to Ephesus Cappadocia and many more. And not to forget Ankara the capital. Beside of seeing the historical sites what we liked was seeing the most important and busiest cities in Turkey. It was adventerous and so much fun.
El tour biblico es una pasada la verdad me gusto todo lo que vi es una oportunidad unica en la vida…
It is something you don't want to miss. You will be surprised and amazed about how they manage to build this site.
We had our twins during the Turkey tour. Our guide and everybody was extremely helpful to us. Great trip
If you are interested in history of christianism, Cappadocia is a must-see location. I wasn’t well prepared for this cultural attraction so I’ve decided to rent tape recordings for 10 TRL from the ticket booth – that tells you something about each church.
It's worth visiting the underground city. The place is the same as used by the ancient people that lived in Cappadocia. You can visit 5 underground floors including the places where animals, poor and rich families lived. It's very interesting tounderstand the way they lived. But if you don't feel welll in closed spaces don't do this.
El tour biblico es perfecto para la gente que gusta de la religion
