These include the pleasure of sunbathing from sunrise to sunset; the natural thrill of outdoor sports in the grip of mother nature; the excitement of discovering national parks with their rich flora and fauna, ancient cities, museums and Kaleiçi; the mystery of the mountains and the peaceful Mediterranean coves drawing you away; the romance of watching an opera outdoors under the stars at night; sampling the unique delicacies of Turkish cuisine and enjoying the party scene. Meeting the hospitable people of Antalya is just another part of the pleasant holiday experience.
Antalya is a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey. It is Turkey’s biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera.
In 2011 the city had a population of 964,886 and the metropolitan municipality 1,041,972. Antalya was the world’s fourth most visited city by number of international arrivals in 2011, with 10.5 million annual visitors. Most of these tourists were changing planes or moving between the airport and the cruise lines.
Antalya,
Huge market…excellent on saturdays
There is a money exchange just on the main rd to change money to Lira, if there is no price on the item then barter….avoid the perfumes they are all fakes
If you have got your sea legs you must go on a boat trip around the coast.
You can choose from a short trip of 45 minutes to a 2 hour trip.
Barter with the people before handing over your money though.
Kaleici has it all for the tourist, comfortable pedestrian roads, small shops, good food, beach, marina, view points, boutique hotels, historic sites, accessibility to the buses, trams…
Certainly not the best beach I've ever been on, but it was nice to just lay out in the sun after spending a few hours at the Antalya Museum across the road.
The old town of Antalya is a great place to find good restaurants, bars, and shops. Walk down to the harbor and start exploring. There are interesting things around every corner – the most interesting area in the city of Antalya.
While we were on a "shopping tour" to Antalya, we were warned not to go to Alanya shopping…the reason actually is that Alanya is cheaper for things like leather coats and we found the quality of choice and sizes better in Alanya.
The vendors in general were very pushy and almost mean if you were looking. No way to make a sale when someone seems angry with you
its small beautiful harbour and there is a very nice cafes & restrants thereu u can take ride from there and having trip in the sea …
Very nice oldtown. Beautiful restored and very charming. Nice small boutique hotels, it is difficult to get a parking place and very noisy when the muezzin starts his praying at 5a.m.
Loved wandering round the interesting, narrow streets of old Antalya. Beautiful refuge from the hubbub of the surrounding city. Interesting shops, more up-market than the tourist areas along the coast. Lovely old buildings, interesting restaurants and cafes, beautiful views over the harbour to the sea and mountains beyond. Highly recommended.
