The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
The best of all the tours we did. The AC van, guide, driver, and lunch excellent.
Ok, everybody knows what the grand bazar is so just some hints and tips. For orientation: Up is always south and west.
1. Avoid the "main" entrance from the tram station if possible, the most aggressive vendors wait just outside.
2. Whatever you see there it is on sale and unique and can only be bought in this shop. Wrong…
A must visit Hagia Sophia church built 1500 hundred years ago. Hard to think how they could pull it off at 500 ac
Hagia Sophia is a much earlier building than the adjoining Blue Mosque, inside there is a huge scaffold and restoration work seems like a permanent fixture. Nevertheless the scale of ambition of the Byzantine builders is breathtaking – this was the largest interior space in a building until comparatively recently. A Must See!
I've had the Hagia Sophia on my bucket list for over 25 years, so I was very disappointed to walk into it and find one whole side of the interior hidden by scaffolding. I accept, however, that old buildings need work!
Hagia Sophia was probably the best sight on our trip. I really enjoyed walking round, We didnt have a tour guide, just a book we were reading through, that was more than enough. Its sheer size is hard to take in. Definitely enjoyed being free to walk around and soak everything in rather than have a guide on this one.
Basilica Cistern is underground and very cool and refreshing to get out of the humid air. The history is fascinating, don't miss the Medusa heads and the reason they are upside down.
Basilica Cistern an awesome place to visit. Everyone should go visit this while in Istanbul. You need to read the new Dan Brown book Inferno before you go. It will make it much more interesting.
Istanbul was the most amazing city…returned four weeks ago and sad to see the rioting there…if is all calms down, be SURE to go visit this amazing city…adventure of a lifetime…but NOT for the physically challenged…there is no handicap access anywhere that i saw….
