The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
O me, the atmosphere there in Hagia Sophia so special, sacred, fair… Right now, there are huge scaffolds standing in there on the left side, which is a bit of a pity for those who cannot come like twice a year..
Basilica Cistern a must-see, as you can appreciate the centuries-old history of this place. Remnants of Roman temples were "recycled" to form the water cistern.
We loved exploring the Topkapi Palace, especially the Harem.
Topkapi Palace was too large for me to see it all in the time I had. The mosaic tile work is beautiful. The architecture is pretty. There is a Large diamond on display in one of the buildings. I forgot to see it while I was there. I wish I hadn't missed it.
Grand Bazaar.. It a compulsory trip when visiting Istanbul, but for us, our great expectations were left rather flat. The bazaar is like a large indoor shopping mall, comprised of a very large number of small shops. There is a sterile, soul-less feel to the place.
The grand bazaar is big beyond belief. There are so many shops and corridors, you lose your bearings in this maze. At the same time you think how much stuff there is in the bazaar. As it is under a roof and there are so many people, there might be a shortage of air.
Hippodrome is one of the nicest places to visit in Istanbul, esp if you are looking for something hundreds of years old, yet maintained in a very clean, interesting manner. The Hippodrome is the Roman name for this place which was made for horse and chariot racing in Roman times. Classic fountains, gorgeous old trees….
Hagia Sophia was one of the most incredible sights I've ever seen. It is a must-see if you visit and a reason in and of itself to visit Istanbul.
Basilica Cistern is..awesome place to visit. Everyone should go visit this while in Istanbul. You need to read the new Dan Brown book Inferno before you go. It will make it much more interesting.
Topkapi Palace it's absolutely a must-see site in Istanbul. The Palace is impressive with its different rooms and pavilions, and its lovely gardens. Do not miss the Harem which required a different entry ticket.
