The big tip is to try and go completely private. Many of the large tour companies offer private tour and they are going to charge a significant amount of money for the tour guide. However, many locations offer self-guided tours and therefore you have the ability to supply your own tour guide. Easily Book your guided private Ephesus tours, to see all the treasures of Ephesus Turkey. It's often said that Turkey has more ancient cities and classical ruins than does Greece. Well, it's true, and the Aegean coast holds a great number of sites, including Ephesus, the grandest and best-preserved of them all.
A grand bazaar where you would find everything under one roof. Its a good walk around and. Ery crowded all the time. I was surprised to see different brand replics here and lot of gold shops around. They have a whole section for antiques im sure most of them must be replics. But worth a visit.
If you're going to visit Hagia Sophia and/or the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome will be on your way. Might as well stop by to take some pics.
The Hippodrome is gives a nice glimpse into life in the Byzantine Era. With the German Fountain on one end, and the impressive Obelisk of Theodosius at the other end, it is a nice place to take a stroll and envision what took place here.
Pity they are busy with renovations ….. guess I will have to revisit (and that is not a bad thing!!) We took a slow walk, talked to the cats that were lying idly around, took a couple of pictures and then went for a coffee under the trees.
If you are in Istanbul, you have to see Topkapi Palace. I have not had time to get around all the rooms but visited the treasury and rooms of shrines. Although that I was tired, I really enjoyed
My husband and I went to Dolmabahce Palace with expectant hearts, deciding we will spend our last afternoon in Istanbul to look at some lovely architecture soaked rich in history. What a disappointing trip it turned out to be! Apart from the impressive exterior and spacious gardens, the entire experience was marred by the fact we had to be guided…
Hahia Sophia building is magnificent !
Topkapi Palace was beautiful and there are many buildings with a lot to offer. There are great collections of jewels and other items which were interesting to see. Plan to spend several hours here.
Hippodrome is an old square where there are a few old relics positions. Earlier it used to be a horse racing site but now no traces of it are to be seen,. There are old obelisks which have brought from Egypt and old buildings of Vazir still maintaining its old architecture but out of bound for tourists.
Hagia Sophia is a must see – it's worth a trip in it's own right. From the outside it looks kind of scruffy, but then the Byzantine empire was never that bothered about exterior. But you can see how the building works from the outside. The interior drips with marble, The side aisles are huge.
