It was a great day with so much to see in such a beautiful, clean city!
Our guide was a great guide full of historical knowledge as well as answering questions about the land and people.
I especially liked the little village Sirence that we visited. The people were so friendly and the village gave us the opportunity to purchase gifts to take home that were handmade.
Great!
The Virgin Mary's House is located in a peaceful setting and pays tribute to the mother of Jesus. It is believed (though there is some debate) that this was her last living residence. You can walk through the house where she supposedly lived and died.
While at the house, you can pick up some thin candles to light once you…
The Virgin Mary’s home was interesting, but the tour of Ephesus was fascinating and very memorable. Fortunately our tour contact suggested we also visit the Terrace Homes, another great experience. Our guides were personable and gave us great insight into that period of time. We had a lunch of Turkish favorite dishes in a beautiful outdoor setting.
It is easy to get to when you are in Ephesus. Even if you are not Christians, it is worth a trip. It is tranquil, and relaxing area. There is not much other than the little house of Mary, coffee shops, and gift shops. I believe there are regular masses being held as well.
Unless you have a specific religious need to see this locale it just simply is not worth the effort involved in the visit. It is government run and my opinion is that they are simply in it for the money. There were 6 of us in our group and none among us would give a rating better than average.
I'm so grateful that I was able to visit this most holy place. It's a spiritual highlight. My children loved it too as a place to contemplate Mary's life after Christ ascended to heaven.
I do recommend a guide here, one that has a broad perspective. There's a reasonable suggested history, and the site is well preserved. It was quite worth the stop.
We had a wonderful time and thank you so much for everything.
I don’t think I could have made a better choice. We had a great time!
