The Hippodrome, as it is now, isn't so much of a tourist attraction as it is a very nice park with historical columns and fountains. You are going to be right there when you go to see the Blue Mosque anyway, so you might was take it in as you go. It makes a very enjoyable route from the Sultanahmet…
Goreme Open Air Museum is definitely one of the most interesting and beautiful places to visit in Turkey. If you’re coming to Turkey, you should try to stop in Cappadocia, and Goreme is a great place to take it in!
Really there are plenty of things to see and do in Istanbul and as I only stopped 2 days will definitely make a return visit perhaps next year, but Basilica Cistern amazed me perhaps because it's underground and a massive structure ,it seemed to impress me for this reason. But it was so peaceful and the atmosphere was unusual.
My second visit to the Topkapi Palace and I still haven't seen it all! So many beautiful things, each one with a piece of history of its own.
Enjoy!
Travelled to turkey last week and decided to book a private tour for my family, it was excelled. Brilliant sites and ruins, tour guide spoke brilliant English and was a lot of fun.
Basilica Cistern is the magical place that indeed all of the other reviewers have described. It’s a must-see and is a good alternative when the nearby Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are too crowded.
But I bet most visitors are disappointed in their pictures of it when they get home. Reason? They took flash pictures. If you really want to capture the beautiful dimly illuminated cistern, you need to hold your camera very still (tripod, or balanced securely on railing) and use a setting without flash. Read your camera instructions if you don’t know how to do this. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
It's hard to miss the Hippodrome as you exit one side of Blue Mosque, but it is worth it to make a circumfrance of it anyway, particularly to see the three main columns that remain from earlier times, the Egyptian Obelisk being the most impressive of the three in my view.
Capadocia fue una experiencia inolvidable la verdad que quedamos muy satisfechos con el tour privado que nos vendieron
If you want to be shepherded around an at times rundown country pile and at other times over-the-top palace of excess, with no time to appreciate the good bits and a guide that can barely be heard, the Dolmabahce Palace is for you.
Regards to Yesim and many thanks for a super day.
