The Bosphorus Bridge, is one of two suspension bridges spanning the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul, Turkey; thus connecting Europe and Asia. The bridge is located between Ortaköy (on the European side) and Beylerbeyi (on the Asian side).
It is a gravity anchored suspension bridge with steel towers and inclined hangers. The aerodynamic deck hangs on zigzag steel cables. It is 1,560 m (5,118 ft)[1] long with a deck width of 33.40 m. The distance between the towers (main span) is 1,074 m and the total height of the towers is 165 m. The clearance of the bridge from sea level is 64 m.
The Bosphorus Bridge had the 4th longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1973, and the longest outside the United States. At present, it is the 21st longest suspension bridge span in the world.
Bosphorus Bridge,
Very nice place to visit and drive with tourist bus example. Long and high bridge, lots of traffic. You can visit Asia by crossing this bridge.
I crossed it with a car several times and the novelty never wears out. This is a mega structure.
Superb Bridge and been lucky to go on it from Europe to Asia and back again. Sadly you cannot walk on this bridge as they are no pavements to walk on
A nice sight and lit up eligantly at night. Closed to walk over due to too many suicides. Great view of the bridge from a boat going under.
Our tour got a big bot and we had a nice trip on the Bosphorus.
The Bosphorus bridge is truly an amazing suspension bridge, spanning the whole Bosphorus strait. This bridge linked the two continents together in one city. The cliches are proven in this dynamic city where east truly does meet west.
The Bosphorus Bridge is really a great sight. It connects Europe and Asia and is an amazing feat; seeing it in person is even better.
It's possible to see it many different ways. Take a cruise on the Bosphorus and get some photos from the sea. Drive or walk the bridge to see the city from a different point of…
This is the first bridge that connects the European and the Asian side. You can walk it but the really nice thing is to tour underneath it. Or to simply stare at it when the sun goes down and they light it up in different colours. It's a toll bridge so if you go by car or taxi on it,…
I wouldn´t walk over the bridge because of the traffic, but it was an interesting bridge connecting to different parts of the city, so it´s good to know about it.
Unfortunatelly you can not walk on it but you must pass over it by car .You will feel like flying over clouds. Best chance to see Asia and Europe in the same time. If you go to Istanbul. You must do it!
