The Bosphorus Bridge, is one of two suspension bridges spanning the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul, Turkey; thus connecting Europe and Asia. The bridge is located between Ortaköy (on the European side) and Beylerbeyi (on the Asian side).
It is a gravity anchored suspension bridge with steel towers and inclined hangers. The aerodynamic deck hangs on zigzag steel cables. It is 1,560 m (5,118 ft)[1] long with a deck width of 33.40 m. The distance between the towers (main span) is 1,074 m and the total height of the towers is 165 m. The clearance of the bridge from sea level is 64 m.
The Bosphorus Bridge had the 4th longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1973, and the longest outside the United States. At present, it is the 21st longest suspension bridge span in the world.
Bosphorus Bridge,
connecting Europe and Asia. It's so nice as an architecture. It looks so beatiful especially at night, when it is illuminated.
We really enjoyed the evening light shows during our recent visit!
Look for it during an evening cruise or during dinner at a waterside restaurant!
We traveled 5km from old city on foot with my husband just too see it up close and were very lucky to do so on a sunny and very warm day. The whole trip payed off cuz of the sights you see from under it, from being on top of the hill next to it and also on the whole…
the view is amazing but the traffic is horrendous at any time of the day or night. if you are trying to cross from europe to asia is way better to take the ferry and feel the cool sea breeze on your face.
You can't see this view at anywhere, ıts blong to Istanbul.. You will fall in love with bosphorus.. There is thousands view on bosphorus sea side, at hills and sea side..
This is an Istambul trademark and it's very interesting to see a bridge that connects two continents. But the most amazing is to pass under the bridge on a cruise. Great photos and beautiful views to both sides.
We have just taken a cruise this mrng .it was really worth going.though I feel one can easily go on your own and find out about the cruises as they are extremely cheap and one pays inTL whereas we were charged in €. But the marvellous sights and the forts that one sees is worth.
Its a must do for anyone visiting Istanbul. The views and contrast between Asian and European side is pretty noticeable and offers you comparison between our modern society and historic architecture. It offers you everything you expect from a boat tour. Views are amazing as well.
Good to see…better still from a boat..where these pics are taken
First of all, I never thought I would feel the urge to write about the Bosphorus Bridge which I cross about 10 times a week on average. Still, I wanted to add my review from the perspective of an 'Istanbullu' (Istanbuler) who enjoys the view from the Bosporus Bridge, and suffers its rush hour traffic (7am to 10 am, as…
