Uchisar is a small village of Cappadocia that has some of the most luxurious hotels in the region. It is located close to Goreme Open Air Museum and can be explored within a day or will serve well as an ideal base to explore beautiful Cappadocia.
Uchisar is very hilly and those with walking difficulties will find problems on steep streets and hills. From the top of Uchisar is the castle and one of the most magnificent views of the landscape. Walking around Uchisar will bring a smile to your face as you come across the unique police station and quiet cafes that are located in caves.
From the heights of the Uçhisar citadel, you have a magnificent and unrivaled view of the whole region.
Uçhisar Castle / Landlord’s Castle, (The big rock on top of the hill in Uçhisar). The view from the top of this massive rock with a number of rooms carved into it is well worth the price of admission. The path to the top is strenuous but short, mostly stairs and relatively safe. 5 TL. edit
There are also many similar hand carved rooms and tunnels you can explore in the nearby Pigeon valley. Less stairs, perhaps less safe.
Uchisar Castle, Cappadocia,
Not a great access, but a great view from the top! Nice "building"!
Even if you don't want to pay admission, it is so worth coming here. You can walk around and in and out of the caves and the view is spectacular.
Great views from the top but lots of steps to climb and not much barrier protection on the top so be careful in windy/icy conditions
It's a 150 stair "hike" to top which provides a nice view. Because guide bought admission ticket, I don't know how much admission was. If more than equivalent of $3-$5, probably not worth it.
I really enjoyed the fact that you could freely walk and explore the ancient city around the "Castle". The view from the top is magnificent.
The traditional tourist attractions in the area aren't so awe-inspiring. You go here to see the landscape and experience life in the caves. That being said, a visit to the castle is a nice way to spend a few hours and it also has nice views of the town.
The castle has spectacular 360 views of capadoccia and all surrounding cities but nothing more to explore. Definitely worth checking out but won't take much time.
