Uchisar is a small village of Cappadocia that has some of the most luxurious hotels in the region. It is located close to Goreme Open Air Museum and can be explored within a day or will serve well as an ideal base to explore beautiful Cappadocia.
Uchisar is very hilly and those with walking difficulties will find problems on steep streets and hills. From the top of Uchisar is the castle and one of the most magnificent views of the landscape. Walking around Uchisar will bring a smile to your face as you come across the unique police station and quiet cafes that are located in caves.
From the heights of the Uçhisar citadel, you have a magnificent and unrivaled view of the whole region.
Uçhisar Castle / Landlord’s Castle, (The big rock on top of the hill in Uçhisar). The view from the top of this massive rock with a number of rooms carved into it is well worth the price of admission. The path to the top is strenuous but short, mostly stairs and relatively safe. 5 TL. edit
There are also many similar hand carved rooms and tunnels you can explore in the nearby Pigeon valley. Less stairs, perhaps less safe.

Uchisar is situated at the highest point in Cappadocia, The top of the Uchisar Castle, provides a magnificent panorama.
One should take a long walk, take photoshop and enjoy the breath taking scene. At every angle you look, you can find different vision.
My fiancee and I really enjoyed climbing all over this ancient castle. Time and erosion have taken a toll on some of the rooms but it's quite managable if you have good shoes and are in reasonbly good shape. The views from the top are outstanding.
The view from the top of the castle after you walk up the outside stairs is great. Don't go here if you're expecting to see anything inside as you only get to climb the outside.
Uchisar was the first thing we viseted after our arrival in Goreme. The view from the top is just incredible. Go there and won't be wrong.
Tha walk up to the top of Uchisar castle offers great views of the whole area. We were able to spot the places we saw earlier from the hot air balloon.
Not too hard an ascent to the top, well worth it for the views, also interesting surrounding buildings.
Wear good grippy shoes! Take water with you.
Just wonderful piece of ancient genius! The castle is the highest point in Ucisar. Well worth a visit. Try some of the dry fruit at the entrance to the castle.
climb it for the view. lots of stairs and climbing. if you are athletic and healthy try it.
The square and the castle is awesome especially during the sunset… The village is wonderful with lots of little shops…
Climbing to the top was the first thing we did upon our arrival in Uchisar. The view is amazing. I stayed away from the edge due to my fear of heights, but I wouldn't miss climbing up there for anything.
