Kılıclar Valley situated in between Goreme Valley and Aktepe, is the most beautiful valleys of Cappadocia, however, entering the valley with motor vehicles is not possible, we must walk, there are white ice cream cone formations and narrow passageways between the white domed rocks.
After Goreme Open Air Museum, the valley which has a second church group is made up of white tuff rocks. With fairy chimneys, tunnels and interesting form rockies in the valley which has a impressive appearance and waterway, as well as fruit trees and vineyards, a plant which dwellers use for broom making grow. In addition, green appearance of zucchinis grown in the region and broom plant’s yellow-red tones is a unique image for photographers… The green color of zucchinis gives the impression of spring and yellow and reddish colored brooms presents scenes from summer and autumn so visitors feels as if they breathed three seasons together.
Kiliclar Valley, Cappadocia,
Keep in mind that the signage in the area is extremely poor. I got lost the first time but encountered Kiliclar Valley, an amazing narrow gorge that was a lot of fun to navigate. Then I skirted the top of the ridge just before and above the roadway, across from Goreme Museum, where I could see, not only Kiliclar valley that I was just in, but a great view in all directions.
On the road which leads up to the Goreme open air museum are tracks that will lead to Kiliclar Valley. This valley is more known for the fantastic views of Cappadocia that are seen following a short climb up small hills. It is also possible to explore the abandoned caves which were homes of past citizens in this region. Even though this valley is perhaps one of the easiest to access without transport it is advisable to make sure that you have good walking shoes to be able to explore this area properly.
If that describes your situation, then Kiliclar Valley is calling your name.
The entrance to the valley is either right above or right below the Goreme Open Air Museum. I recommend the upper entrance; exit the museum, turn right, and head up the S-curvy road 100 meters or so. You will see the entrance on your left.
