The Turkish region of Cappadocia, a region of exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage, boasts one of the most dramatic sights in the world.
Visiting Cappadocia is such a change from visiting many other busy bustling sights all over Turkey. It is a great pleasure to wander in the vast open space filled with captivating natural attractions which have seen human history dated back in the Bronze Age.
While in Goreme Open Air Museum , the conical formations resulting from the volcanic eruptions that took place millions of years ago, just follow the path up to the top of one of the ridges where a spectacular view of the fairy chimneys awaits you. The natural cone formations contain caves and labyrinths. As early as the third century, those chimneys became a hiding place for early Christians who fled persecution from the Romans, and then later from raiding Muslims. In modern tourism, many caves have been turned into cave houses for tourist stays and the lunar-like setting of Goreme Valley has become popular for hot-air ballooning.
Many say the extremely unique landscape of Cappadocia resembles some scene in a Star Wars movie and yet you may be surprised to discover that no major commercial movies have been filmed there. It would be a perfect setting for movies such as Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter series.
Loved the shape & rock formation – breath taking!!
Although this place is amazing you are better off spending your time hiking the trails of Rose, Piegon, Zemi Valleys. The crowds at the museum were out of control.
Saw this from a panoramic view, was beautiful and you could see all the pigeon holes clearly. Lots of history and meaning to this place
ı cant express what we felt when we hang around thıs marvellous park.once agaın mother nature overcame herself. we suggest u to take uor tıme and spend several hours just wanderıng around the many paths that compose the park
We walked around the rose valley with no one around it was an amazing experience. The landscape is mindblowing and the cave rooms and fairy chimney's intriguing. The area is beautiful. One of the highlights of my trip to Turkey. If walking doesn't suit there are many other options for going around the valley including horseback and ATV
the best time to visit pasabag is early morning – the smooth rocks are free and shiny. No one bothers you.
Cappadoccia is a place where all views are spectacular! But for us – the valley has the best view! Well, maybe because of all the pigeons – the kids are fascinated! They had more fun in the valley than in St. Marco's Square in Venice! Really!
Breath-taking view! We wish to come back to hike the valley.
Went here on a tour package and it was good but was surprised at the cost for drop ins.
The open air museum is very impressive, with its unique churches. It is a must-see in Capaddocia. And while there, you have to check the dark church, even if you have to pay extra for this visit.
Walked there around noon, was packed so went for a bit more walk then my partner insisted on check the museum, he was right..some tourists left so we spent a good 2.5hrs there without too many people around
