Avanos Village, Cappadocia,
It's a very nice village where you can watch a pottery making and try to do by yourself. You can buy ceramics and pottery. Try to find Chez Ali Baba shop. They give the best deal for shopping.
The history of the potters, and the caves in which they do their work, is amazing. Talk with your hotel about their connections to see if you can get a tour of one how the pottery is made. Its fabulous.
Chez Galip, a potter set up this museum in a cave over thirty years ago – and what did he put inside it? Locks of hair! Now, the museum has a Guinness record too. If you are in Goreme, this place warrants a visit for sure. I, naturally had a lock of my hair snipped off – like thousands of…
After visiting Hacibectas, our driver took the five of us to Avanos. First we had lunch at the Kooperative, a restaurant operated by a group of Turkish women. Great food. Then we spent a couple of hours at Chez Galip- pottery museum. We spent so much time there that it was too late to go to Hair Museum cave.
Stopped here just to kill some time before flight from Kayseri, and found it a charming and interesting town. Walk across the pedestrian bridge over the river and sit in the shade along the banks. Interesting pottery studios in town where one artisan demonstrated on the wheel for us and was very helpful in directing us to some other sites….
We stayed in Goreme so only went to Avanos for a day trip, but next time I think we might stay in Avanos! Such a pretty town, with a lovely river, and loads of fantastic pottery places. We went to one called 'Chez Hakan' and the owner was so gracious and welcoming!
Actually Avanos is a village, and for me it's a lovely one. Unfortunately just have a short time to visit this village. We came to saw pottery making in one of the shops. But if you have more time, i suggest to spend it here. Because the village is clean and really nice to walk in. Also there is small…
We visited the town of Avanos at sunset, and walking along the river in town was one of the highlights of our Cappadocia visit. The town was easy to navigate, and had some tasty restaurants.
The best to do is to visit villages
it's a small quiet town, the Red river runs through it with a hanging bridge to connect you to the other side of the river (that i didn't have time to check). it's not big, it has nothing in particular to see except that it's widely known and actually very famous for its pottery & carpets and kilim industry. but…
