Basilica Cistern is maybe the best place I went in Istanbul. The aura there is so powerful. The slow music they played is somewhat mysterious, and it was really a unique experience!
Having Taylan as our guide in Istanbul was the best decision. He is not only knowledgeable and experienced, but his friendly and warm manner made our visit most enjoyable. We laughed and learned, and it was more like having a friend then a guide. Taylan, I will most definitely look you up on my next visit to Istanbul! Thank you!
The Grand Bazaar is one of the site-seeing spot in our tour. You can totally see & feel the history & culture of this place as soon as you walk in. There are thousands of shops in the Grand Bazaar, it’ll take a day to walk through all the shops.
After having gone through the nightmare of shopping in Egypt a few years ago, my husband and I were a bit nervous about going to the Grand Bazaar. So glad we did! It is lively but not chaotic, and the shop keepers have good humor and are not pushy at all.
Absolutely breathtaking !
Topkapi is Istanbul’s Alhambra Palace. We had a very good experience, Topkapi is a large site but compact and well presented. The views across to the Bosphorus are breathtaking. A selection of treasures are displayed, the huge diamond is magnificent. The Harem is fascinating, and exists like a town within a town.
Grand Bazaar, one of those great let-downs that’s nowadays crawling with tourists, thieves & expensive trinkets. It was probably a much more interesting place 100 years ago when it resembled more of a flea market full of slaves, illegal arms & expensive silks.
Priceless!! The collectibles of the palace are amazing, it shows you how grand the Ottoman Empire was.
Topkapi Palace did not particularly impress me, although the view of the Bosphorus from one of the rooms is amazing. The Harem was the most interesting, particularly in conveying how claustrophobic for those that were confined there.
The tour was a fantastic experience our group made up of cruises from cruse critic all expressed there thanks to our guide who was so knowledgeable on Istanbul.
