We loved this beautiful place with such special meaning. There's not much to it really but the grounds are beautiful and the feeling there is so peaceful. But the fact that we had to pay a fee to get in disturbed us especially since we were told it was a fee that goes to the City of Selcuk and not…
we really had a great time. thanks
we visited 6 years ago and although a mecca for pilgrims and many people it was so quite it had a special effect, Marys House was surreal and it made the hairs on your neck stand up, but now its a tourist gimmick the house has become a sort of shrine, there seems to be little or no respect.
Whether Christian or not, The Virgin Mary House is a place for quiet reflection. Once away from the souvenir merchants, the area is peaceful and serene. To the believers, this is a place of prayer for healing and many leave small notes with prayers for friends and family. The waters come from underground springs..
went and saw. was blown away by the entire place you could not help but be moved by the thought that The Virgin Mary was there. Attended Sunday Mass said in both Turkish , Italian and English so well impressed as didnt expect english. Plenty of gifts of varying prices and quality and shop keeps helpful . food bar prices…
Still an operating church. Small but powerful. Worth visiting or either religious or cultural reasons.
Instead of taking the ships tour we booked a private tour and it was a great day.
We would not have enjoyed Turkey as much as we did if we had not taken this tour. The tour picked us up at the cruise terminal. We knew the sites we were going visit but our tour guide suggested the order to visit that would suit us best.
If in fact the Virgin Mary did in fact live out the final days of her life here, then visiting the house is certainly an amazing thing.
I would definitely recommend this tour!
