With its history, sea, cultural assets and high quality tourism facilities, Antalya is known as the capital of Tutkish tourism. With Belek, Kemer, Side-Manavgat, Alanya, Lara-Kunda, and Kaş tourism centers, Antalya hosts more than 10 million foreign quests every year. Along with a cultural heritage deeply rooted in history,
Antalya’s coves and highlands of unique beauty, pristine beaches, comfortable hotels and marinas, colourful entertainment venues, and art-filled festivals all make it a tourist destination that offers endless possibilities to its guests.
These include the pleasure of sunbathing from sunrise to sunset; the natural thrill of outdoor sports in the grip of mother nature; the excitement of discovering national parks with their rich flora and fauna, ancient cities, museums and Kaleiçi; the mystery of the mountains and the peaceful Mediterranean coves drawing you away; the romance of watching an opera outdoors under the stars at night; sampling the unique delicacies of Turkish cuisine and enjoying the party scene. Meeting the hospitable people of Antalya is just another part of the pleasant holiday experience.
Antalya is a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey. It is Turkey’s biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera.
In 2011 the city had a population of 964,886 and the metropolitan municipality 1,041,972. Antalya was the world’s fourth most visited city by number of international arrivals in 2011, with 10.5 million annual visitors. Most of these tourists were changing planes or moving between the airport and the cruise lines.
Antalya,
The old town, with its very narrow streets really keeps traffic to a bare minimum, allowing a gentle stroll through the streets, where you don't have to talk loud to hear yourself speak.
Not a place to spend more than 10 minutes but absolutely beautiful and it is even more impressive at night.
Head to the old city and enter through Hadrian's Gate, from there, it is essentially a maze of old buildings, shops, restaurants, bars, and small hotels. I would recommend ending up down at the harbor to watch the boats come and go while sipping your favorite drink at the cafe on the hill.
Just 10 minutes from the museum, this is a great pebbled beach close to Kaleci area. (around 3 kms). Better than the sandy lara beach 10 kms away and less crowded. A must visit if you are in antalya. You can get to the beach by KL08 bus or the historic tram (get off at the last stop – Museum)
There is a long covered table and seating area that looks over the marina and harbour – we sat there and had reasonably priced tea and coffee before walking down to the marina and taking a sunset boat ride for 5 lira. Its very nice for an hour or so – see the colours of the sky on the sea…
Clock hover is oldest place in Antalya and its very nice place to see if interested to old histories.
Wow what a day, beautiful, moment to always remember, Ed and I took the Tram from Kaleici (cost around 2.5 Turkish liras for two people) quite a short and a pleasant trip! Beautiful view from up above – the beach is lovely, oh bthw please prepare your self with water shoes due to no sand, it has lots of little…
They redecorated the streets. You should have your beer in one of the bars there. Good restaurants. There are lots of hostels where you can stay as well.
its very big and long beach..there are many facilities in beach to do sports and eat/drink something. in the past it was really expensive but now it addresses everybody. be sure that the beach is better than NICE and Cannes..you must try mermerli beach too..this my favourite..
Every time I am in Antalya we are trying to visit Kaleici as it is a very magical place and this is where I got engaged. Beautiful, charming with plenty of restaurants and boat trips not lacking anything really. Absolutely loving it, I'd def recommend castle restaurant very posh with breathtaking views (sorry can't remember the name)
